Got some Alligator Bites. First time ever trying it. Dude was super nice and the place was reasonably priced. Seating is what it is.

  1. No gumbo pics in a Gumbo Boys post? Straight to jail.

That place has been like 15 different places over the years.

  3. The fry on that looks awesome! I haven’t had a chance to try… will be by!

I guess the gumbo wasn’t compelling enough to order?

How’d you like it? I’ve been meaning to go this but I’m rarely ever downtown

I never eat in and always get to go. It is what it is.

Best po boy and gumbo in the city by a large margin.

  7. I remember when they were roadside and the gumbo was so good! They were talking about a brick n mortar even before covid, glad to see they got a spot.

Hush puppy prices in this city are insane all for some weak pups that are usually undercooked.

There used to be that place down by the mall in South Central run by a couple from New Orleans. They had really great food but they were robbed a couple of times and the last time one of them was seriously injured/beat so they closed down. Can’t remember the name of the place right now.

Where else do they make good gumbo ? I know Little jewel of New Orleans and the place at the third Street farmers market. I’ve been wanting to try Stevie’s on pico.

I’ve been dying to get some Cajun and didn’t even know where to start. Now I do.

Can anybody provide me an example when the place was asked to “sweep the floor” before cooking? It’s an old expression, but I want to see just exactly what they were using to make those hodpodges of meals.
